Francis H. Laws III

Francis "Buddy" LFrancis "Buddy" Lawsaws, Emeritus Professor of Music, joined the Wright State University faculty in 1972 and retired in July of 2007. His teaching career covered 43 years in Texas, Indiana and Ohio where he taught applied music (trombone and euphonium), performed in the Faculty Brass Quintet, taught music education classes, conducted the University/Community Trombone Ensemble, and served as Assistant Chair of the Department of Music.

Mr. Laws has appeared in Ohio and nationally as a trombone and euphonium soloist and clinician. He is co-founder and euphonium soloist with the Ohio Valley British Brass Band. He also performs with the Colorado Brass Band; the Fountain Creek Brass Band; the Great Western Rocky Mountain Brass Band; and the CSU-Fresno Brass Band. He has premiered new compositions and arrangements for solo euphonium. His editions of solo works with band accompaniments by Raymond J. Baumgardt were published by Cimarron Music.

A native of Texas, Buddy holds graduate and undergraduate degrees from Texas A&I University and the University of Houston. He resides in Springfield, OH and Pitkin, CO.
